Manchester Bombing Monument
Manchester City legends former players went head-to-head with members of emergency services in a charity football match Friday 20th October, and raised over £1000 in aid of the Manchester bombing monument.
There were some well known City names on display including Uwe Rosler, Peter Barnes and Colin Hendry.
Members of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service were all present on the night of the arena attack on May 22.
Benchmark employee, manager of the City former players Derek Partridge had this to say:
“They are so excited because most are Man City fans playing against their heroes.
“It’s going to be very special,” he said.
In 2014 Derek was presented with a Medal of Distinction and a Commendation from the Armed Forces for his long-standing dedication to various charitable causes, including The Christie and Cancer Research.
On the night there was also a ‘giant bee’ that was open to bids from the general public, in order to raise more money for the cause.
Derek went on to say: “We’re very proud to be part of it. We love Manchester.
“You don’t have to be a football fanatic. It’s if you are proud of who you are and what you do in Manchester,” added Derek.
We would like to say a big thank you to all of those who turned up and Benchmark are proud sponsors of the Manchester City Former Players team.
